Museums.
Glasgow is home to an excellent array of museums, most of which are free of charge and centrally situated in the city centre. Each Glasgow museum showcases an extraordinary collection of artefacts and exhibits associated with the city’s rich heritage and culture. Some museums are of international renown and housed in some of Glasgow’s most imposing and ornate buildings dating from Victorian and Edwardian periods.

A popular and much-loved attraction for children and families is the Glasgow Museum of Transport, showcasing an impressive collection of motor vehicles, Glasgow Trams and Buses, Trains and models of ships and liners built on the Clyde. Why not experience the essence of Glasgow Culture and Life at the People’s Palace in Glasgow Green, home to spectacular tactile and interactive displays relating to the people of Glasgow through the ages.

Charles Rennie Mackintosh and architecture enthusiasts are equally well catered for with Glasgow’s striking collection of buildings designed by this magnificent 19th and early 20th Century architect. Scotland Street School Museum, is one of his finest examples where visitors can experience the Scottish education system from 1910 through to 1950s as well as marvelling at the decorative tiled interiors of this magnificent structure. Glasgow is also home to the oldest public museum in Scotland, The Hunterian Museum situated in the grounds of Glasgow University’s main building. Showcasing in excess of a million objects ranging from taxidermy to ancient coins and medals, The Hunterian Museum is an essential part to Glasgow’s museum trail.
